The ‘good, the bad and the ugly’ of performance information in a company’s reports (group assignment: 30%) Students are expected to form groups of three or four to critique a company’s performance reporting about the external and internal context that is contained in official sources (i.e. annual report, sustainability report and on-line resources). The company must be in the top 50 of the ‘annual report on annual reports’ file in the ‘reports’ folder on BAO5522’s WebCT (Blackboard) site. The elements in PWC’s Value Framework (see Appendix 2) provide the structure for your analysis. The critique should focus on the ‘quality’of the report in terms of comprehensiveness(what’s included and what’s not) and accessibility(how easy are things to find, link and comprehend). You are NOT focussing on the company’s performance; you ARE focussing on well they report. You should show and explain examples of good or not-so-good presentation of performance information; and note important things that are missing – use Donald Rumsfelde’s ideas about what we know (Appendix 3). It would be useful to provide a rating for: each element in the 4 dimensions of the Value Framework; an aggregate rating for each dimension of the framework; and an overall rating for the whole framework (see Appendix 4). The group size is a maximum of 4 (four). Due datefor submission is the last scheduled class (15/5). A lot of the page length will be taken up by insertion of examples using ‘snipping tool’ or some other method. Your written analysis should run to about 1,000 words per team member. One student in each group should submit a copy via Email and must CC to other group members on that same Email. The group size is a maximum of 4 (two).
