Description

This is a PowerPoint Presentation – Please use PP and follow directions attached. Please Cite sources in slide where applicable. I said 9 slides can be 7-9 as along as the rubric is addressed. About Task 2: For any of the PowerPoints for BSHIM courses, they ask that only bullet points or key phrases appear on the slides themselves and the full sentence, full paragraph discussions, complete with the APA in-text citations appear in the Presenter Notes underneath each slide. The very last slide is to be the Source document, fully formatted. For Task 2, when you develop the table or graph, you do not address Record Retention, because you were not given any data on that, in the Felder Post-Implementation document. You were given data on coding and ROI, in comparing before and after EHR implementation. Use that data for the three data sources required

The chart goes to the DeficiencyAnalysis work queue. Charts with missing documentation used for coding are flagged electronically and sent to the physician. Charts thathave no deficiencies are then added to the coding work queue and made available for coders. There is a 48-hour turnaround time onelectronic charts. 732.5.3 : Health Information and Research Design for Health Information Data

The graduate evaluates data that is found in health information management (HIM) research to support leadership in improving standards and techniques for electronic healthcare records (EHR) data collection, storage, and protection.

732.5.4 : Health Information Data Evaluation and Application Skills

The graduate audits statistical data to support health information management department process improvement through data measurement and research.

INTRODUCTION

Gathering statistical data is an important part of assessing how effective health information technology is in healthcare organizations. As an HIM professional, you are charged with the task of looking at performance data and providing data to support leadership for improving standards in the organization. The statistical data provided regarding data collection, storage, and productivity are key in explaining the value of EHR technology in a healthcare organization.

SCENARIO

Felder Community Hospital has just gone live with their new electronic health record (EHR). The hospital is experiencing issues associated with implementing new technology in an HIM department. As an HIM professional, you have been given the task of reviewing workflow and compiling data to show how processes within the department have changed since the EHR has been implemented. There are three functions that are being assessed: release of information, coding, and record retention. You will use the data provided in the attached “Felder Post-Implementation Assessment” from sample manual service logs, policies, and reports to provide statistical data to the HIM manager and key stakeholders regarding the status of the department post-implementation.

REQUIREMENTS

Your submission must be your original work. No more than a combined total of 30% of the submission and no more than a 10% match to any one individual source can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased from sources, even if cited correctly. An originality report is provided when you submit your task that can be used as a guide. You must use the rubric to direct the creation of your submission because it provides detailed criteria that will be used to evaluate your work. Each requirement below may be evaluated by more than one rubric aspect. The rubric aspect titles may contain hyperlinks to relevant portions of the course.

1.  Describe the post-implementation assessment of the electronic health record (EHR) for Felder Community Hospital.

2.  Describe the three performance areas and their purpose in the health information management (HIM) department.

3.  Describe the functions of the three performance areas in the HIM department.

4.  Describe how the technology has improved or been detrimental to HIM operations.

5.  Include a table or graph comparing and contrasting three observations from the data provided.

a.  Explain your observations.

B.  Acknowledge sources, using APA-formatted in-text citations and references, for content that is quoted, paraphrased, or summarized.
