What does your feminist utopia look like? The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate your engagement with the essays in Feminist Utopia Project (you’re reading it and analyzing it) AND to allow you to add to the larger conversation. There is no one utopia; Utopias are limited by our current knowledge and place in the world, we do not know what we do not know. Use Google Docs or Microsoft to write, then copy answer to #1 into forum. Add as an attachment your response to #2. You may use any font. You may create drawings, paintings, poems. If you submit visual images, explain and describe how this is a feminist utopia. Once you submit, others’ will become visible to you. 1) Reflect on the readings. What did you think? Include one quote or scene from “Reproductive Supporters,” one quote or scene from “Dispatches of a Post-Rape Future,” and include any comments or observations from any of the selections that inspired you. 2) Then write your own Feminist Utopia vision in 2-6 pages. When thinking and writing, consider what nourishes your spirit and soul, consider academic challenges, consider what angers you now that mobilizes you to want the change. For example, if I were writing this, I would and could take two approaches as my topic would be “fathers’ rights,” “parents’ rights” things. From my own experience I could write an angry trope based on my own experiences of legal injustice, I’d add some quotes, some personal experience, a kind of manifesto to get out my despair. I could also write a healing trope that takes place in the future, something fictional/not true but based on truth. Like “Dispatches from a Post-Rape Future” I would look back on what it “used to be like” (my rough story) and write about how glad I am that it’s “this” way instead so I can write something lovely.
