Feminism is a range of political movements, ideologies, and social movements that are aimed at establishing personal, political, social, and economic equalities of both sexes (Ferrante, 2016). The main contributor to these movements is that all societies worldwide prioritize men’s perspectives and end up mistreating and unjustly handling the women. Therefore, this paper will discuss how feminism is connected with social issues.
Modern societies still experience social inequalities between men and women. For instance, even if in a family the couples are engaged in formal employment, after official duties in the workplaces, back at domestic home labor is not equally divided between the two of them. Women are seen as the managers of home and families within the society but with less recognition. Regardless of all the day activities outside the homestead, they are expected to be back home and do all the home chores.
Besides, it won’t be surprising to find those male counterparts at home earlier but offering no assistance to women. This is because men already have a mindset that it is not among their stated roles by society. Thus, they can’t associate themselves with anything attached to home duties such as cooking, washing, and even cleaning. To make the situation worse is when there is an income-generating project at home. After all the effort done by the women, men are the ones who tend to pocket the earnings leaving nothing to women who are all time caretakers of those projects. Feminism is against any form of oppression of women since those acts lead to depression and even divorce, mostly on females. This is being achieved by establishing institutions and organizations that advocate for equality between men and women.

Social structure is a pattern within which culture is shaped (Ferrante, 2016). This pattern involves formulations of concepts such as the arrangement of roles, organizational and institutional cultural symbols. This contributes to the spread of feminism movements in society. For instance, in most cultural practices, women’s roles are oppressive since defined duties have to be followed strictly. An excellent example is when women are the ones who tend to wake up early to prepare what the family will take as breakfast, and still, they go to bed late.
The social structure has also established groupings that have different roles, such as settling disputes and educating the younger generation. Despite having clear roles, men are at the control of institutions that discuss women’s issues (Ferrante, 2016). For example, women are entrusted to teach young girls how to maintain the house in terms of cleanness and how to conduct themselves as mothers; however, male counterparts tend to follow up on which content is taught to the female gender in order to avoid any act of resistance from them.
Furthermore, they even go to the extent of making rules on how they should conduct themselves when in such organizations. Even though women are mandated to control some institutions, they hold those which are considered being of little significance, such as home managers. Institutions such as those associated with political power are safeguarded for men since women are considered to be lacking the skills and knowledge to rule. Cultural symbols are also attached mostly to men, even if some are to be credited to women. For instance, when a woman contributes to society’s success, success is coined to favor men. Therefore, male symbols are made to glorify fellow men.
