REQUIREMENTS FOR MOVIE/ DOCUMENTARY WRITTEN REVIEW ART APPRECIATION Choose one of the documentaries/ films from the provided list below and complete the review. Please submit your paper through the assignment link in a Word file. This assignment is due by Sunday, October 25 at 11:59 pm. Submissions will be accepted through Oct 31 at 11 pm but will be counted off 10 points for each day that they are late. Your review should be from 3-4 pages, double-spaced, 12 pt font in Times New Roman font. You can find all of the Simon Schama titles on YouTube if you do not have access to Netflix or Amazon. Art and Craft A new documentary called Art & Craft tells the story of notorious art forger Mark Landis Feature Films Pollock Ed Harris portrays Jackson Pollock in this gripping account of Pollock’s life and work. The Monuments Men The story of a WWII platoon trying to rescue priceless art before it’s too late. Girl with the Pearl Earring Based on Chevalier’s novel, this is a fictional account of Vermeer’s famous painting. Brush With Fate Learn about Vermeer through this screen adaptation of the novel Girl in Hyacinth Blue by Susan Vreeland. Woman in Gold Story of a Gustave Klimt painting that fell into Nazi hands during WWII and a family’s battle to get it returned Simon Schama’s Power of Art (available on YouTube) You will have watched several of these for the course, but Rothko, Rembrandt, David or Turner have not been covered, so any of these would work for the assignment.
