The Sacramento Crisis Nursery is a place where parents can bring their children to sleep safely overnight during times of crisis where the child may be put in danger.

• The child must be 0-5 years old.

• May stay for up to 30 days.

• Provided with essentials such as food, diapers, formula, learning activities and high- quality child caregivers.

Child Protective Services

An Emergency Protective Order can be placed in emergent situations of child abuse:

• Acts as an emergency restraining order lasting up to 7 days.

• A temporary restraining order when a child may be in danger or is a victim of abuse.

• Only a law enforcement officer can place an Emergency Protective Order.

• Upon expiration of the Protective Order the victim must report to the courthouse to file for a permanent restraining order.

Sacramento Child Protective Services intervenes in cases of suspected or confirmed cases of child abuse.

Children may be relocated out of their home to a safe environment.

The county’s social services department manages these cases and get the appropriate services involved.

The Child Protective Services has a 24-hour child abuse hotline where a crisis team may be needed to assess the situation:

2-1-1 Sacramento is a hotline that Sacramento residents can call for over 1,600 community services available to them.
