THS (thesis statement):  Basically any assignment for any particular essay project should have a possibly ever-changing thesis statement. The thesis statement can change often because you are IN THE PROCESS of learning more about your subject. It is actually NOT a good sign if your thesis statement does not change whatsoever. It means you are not adding what you are learning in your research into crafting an even stronger and more rhetorically powerful thesis statement.

TP1 (topic sentence 1):  Do not “number” your topic sentence BEFORE the “TP” -only AFTER, so that it is very obvious which body paragraph you are on. Be sure to bold or underline your two topic sentence keywords (TP-KW):  rhetorical element + identifier.

Add an extra space after your TP# statement and then list a few possible sources that might be found to support your topic sentence. For example:

TP1:  A professor best establishes ethos by gaining trust from college students by treating them like adults instead of criminals, cons, children, and/or imbeciles, by using a language of solidarity in everyone being adult scholars.

I think I can find sources to support this statement a teaching journal I found called Higher Education Chronicles in which I think I might find some articles that advise this same sort of idea for higher student success rates. I might also ask some of my past teachers for interviews since their perspectives are counted as “authoritative sources,” and I’m pretty sure I can find some teachers who will agree with this statement.

TP2:  Professor Dumbledore is a great example of a professor who teaches with this kind of ethos of solidarity in that he always believes his students.

I think this kind of ethos of solidarity can be found in movies like School of Hard Rock, The Yellow School Bus. I found there are actually a ton of movies about teachers and students and their relationships. There’s another movie called Mr. Holland’s Opus that I plan on watching to see what it says about powerful rhetoric.

TP3:  Professor Dumbledore also establishes ethos through integrity in that he always makes it clear to everyone that he as a set of standards for honesty that cannot ever be breached.

An ethos of integrity always makes me think about the King Arthur legend and his knights around the Round Table and all that. It’s all about living life to a higher standard, even if you fail it all the time. And teachers who at least claim certain standards even if they fail at them remind me of that kind of ethos. I will also probably use a lot of information I will hopefully gather from teacher interviews.

Memes

THESIS STATEMENT: This meme is a clear message to their audience, not only because it clearly promotes independence but also emphasizes that every person has the right to make their own decisions.

TS1: This meme performs its ethos when it shows on the libertarians side a gesture of authority, demonstrating that it will not be easy to follow the government’s rules.

TS2: This meme performs its ethos when it demonstrates the government that libertarians are together, and because of that, it won’t be easy to defeat in other words; solidarity will win over an authoritarian government.

TS3: This meme performs its ethos when Liberians show that they will fight for their freedom, their own free will, and, most important, integrity.

TS4: This meme carries out its pathos when showing courage to fight against their government and the robust risk that it means.

TS5: This meme carries out its pathos by showing outrage of libertarians fighting for their cause that is human and their right.

TS6: This meme carries out its pathos by showing hope, Libertarians are willing to fight against a great empire that is most likely to win, but they hope that with courage and strength, they can achieve their goal.

TS7: This meme executes its logos by showing a well-known movie image in which a big empire tries to suppress its citizens by using immoral tactics.

TS8: This meme executes its logos by demonstrating that authoritarian governments have been existing in old times. It was happed before that citizens have raised their voices to avoid being commanded by an untrustworthy government.

TS9: This meme executes its logos by using logical reasoning, showing a man showing a gesture of kindness. Because of his background, Libertarians (in this case, Leonidas, the movie character) knows that this man (government) is capable of if they give in.

TS10: This meme implements its Kairos by demonstrating to its audience powerful and unforgettable events that have much in common with their cause.

TS11: This meme implements Kairos by showing an image representing an authoritative and evil power and compares it to the government that persuaded people to believe that government is the same or so similar.

TS12: This meme implements Kairos when describing with words, what has already been shown, but in a more compelling way. This statement is made with the eagerness to encourage its audience to believe in what’s been projected.
