This week covers chapters 19 & 20. Make sure you read both chapters, and watch the videos in Blackboard.
After reading the Espionage Act (Chapter 19), answer the following questions.
1. Do you think the law was necessary? Explain why?
2. There have been several people charged under this law in many decades of American History including Eugene Debs, Emma Golden, Lawrence Franklin. Research information on any person charged under this law. In three to four sentences, who did you choose, what did the person do, and what was the final verdict.
Read and review information on the Theodore Roosevelt versus J.P. Morgan (Chapter 20). Also, view the video in Blackboard. The same video is on History.com.
1. What was President Roosevelt’s role? Do you think his actions were appropriate?
2. In Roosevelt’s eight years of office he issued more than 1,000 executive orders. Some were to establish national monuments and national parks. Is there a thing as too many executive orders from one president? Explain.
