Explain the theory of valuation method that you are using.The student is expected to explain the theory of the discounted cash flow methodology.
Comment on the results of your valuation of the company using discounted cash flow method.The student is expected to give one example (one selected project) from the simulation. The student must work out the discounted cash flow calculations even if the results of these calculations are provided in the simulation. The student is expected to comment on the results and to compare between original projections and the actual data available at the end of the simulation. The student is expected to explain how the project contributes to the value of the firmSecond Report – Analysis (60%)
Discuss what parameters you used in the capital expenditure or allocation decisions.The student is expected to discuss different quantitative and qualitative parameters considered in capital allocation. The student is expected to give examples for the effect of each parameter on the selection process in the simulation with examples from her/his run of simulation.
Discuss the outcomes of your allocation activities over the five years period, highlighting key and relevant financial metrics.The student is expected to discuss, in general, her/his capital allocation activities (pre-selection analysis) and decisions (capital allocation). The student must highlight relevant financial metrics and must indicate which metric/metrics is/are more useful and give the reason(s).
Conclusion and recommendation.The student is expected to write a conclusion about capital budgeting under uncertainty and under capital rationing highlighting lessons learnt and recommendations.The assignment is expected to have some quantitative summaries in tables and charts to support the discussion part. The assignment must have an appendix showing the specific scenario (budget constraint) and the selected projects in each of the five years.The student must use the “foreground reading” of the company as a reference.IMPORTANT: Each student will have a different simulation scenario.
