Process tracing in practice

Prepare a short presentation (2- slides) with your own hypothetical case in which you. I will also send you the ppt slides tuesday 9th februar:

1. Make your own causal mechanism, including the trigger (X), the links (with entities and activities), and the outcome.
2. Describe one anticipated piece of evidence for one of the links of your mechanism and discuss it in terms of certainty and uniqueness.
3. In the two slides, you need to write me text which I will read from to describe the causal mechanism” The text should be able to keep me talking for exactly 5 min. And the text will be hidden when I read from it in presentation. I will only share the slides, but not the text.

As given from the lecture, case selection is crucial in process tracing. Therefore, you need to choose a case of which you have some prior theoretical and empirical knowledge. You also need to be aware of which one of the theory-centric versions you have chosen.  

The seminar will be structured as follows: Students will present their causal mechanism and the type of evidence chosen. Each presentation should last in between 5 and 10 minutes so that we have some time to discuss both your presentations and the process tracing method in general.
