
Module Assessment The assessment for this module will consist of a 3500 (+-10%) critical literature review. The review must to be submitted on TURNITIN and should reflect the individual effort of the student. The task accounts for the full 100% of the mark for the entire module. The primary focus of the task is to explore key debates, differences in opinion and research in themes within Organisational Behaviour (OB) and Human Resource Management (HRM). The articles to be reviewed must be published in highly- ranked academic journals within the ABS rankings as recommended below. The task: § Present a critical literature review of 3500 words on one of the themes or topics studied in the weekly lectures. You are restricted to include only articles from the recommended journals recommended below published in the last five years 2014- 2019.§ All articles must be on the same theme or topic and should address themes topic studied within the module and ultimately relating to OB/HRM. § Your critically review should evaluate the key issues, debates, theories, findings and methodological approaches adopted by the authors in ABS-ranked journals as identified below. You are advised to stay within the recommended list as these are all credible journals.§ You must only choose articles from the10 journals provided below that were published between 2014 and 2019. Main task: 3500 word essay. You are required to identify 10 journal articles selected from the above academic journals. You will then present a critically literature review in which you examine keys issues, debates, research, theories highlighted the selected articles. In your analysis, you should aim to compare and contrast between content and in doing so, you will be required to identify the different perspectives, positions and main arguments of the articles. In the process, you will consider highlighting similarities and differences in the arguments developed, evaluate the value and contribution the articles as well as examine the suitability of the theories, research, sources of reference included by the author(s). Other aspects of the critical review should include the currency of issues/sources considered, depth/scope of exploration clarity, etc. Further, examine wider limitations, strengths, weaknesses, contribution, implication for theory and practice etc. etc. Expectation General § Use key terms to search electronic databases for the right journals. § Select the right articles from one topic from the recommended journals. § Examine the key debates from slides and reading from other articles and books.§ Limit yourself to 10 articles that will form the basis of the actually Review Expectation: ü Articles are not just summarised for each article. Rather the review identifies debates, issues and compares different viewpoints or research findings. ü The review focuses on key themes/issues that underpin the topic of focus.ü Review looks at the topic as a whole, considering strengths, limitations and unexplored possibilities that could contribute new knowledge. ü Review notes, methodological/philosophical approaches and their implication for the adopted perspectives and points of view. Expectation: Your review must be structured into specific sections/parts/sub-headings. v Each section will constitute subsections which all focus on a particular issue.v Avoid rumbling and babbling and putting every issue or sub-topical issue at different places in your essay. v Think of your essay as separate shopping baskets with oranges to one side, meat to one side, vegetables to one side.v Be clear about what you are exploring in every section of your essay. v You are allowed to use sub-headings according to issues/debate/theory ect.v Avoid using the 1st person, ‘I’ think; in ‘my’ opinion, I strongly believe etc. v Take the independent position of the reviewer, express yourself like: it is clear from the review/analysis/comparison that…., Comparing the views of X and Y, it is evident that…..what these two perspectives suggest is that…….It could be argued that.
