is to encourage you to focus on the issues and key concepts for each question. The word
limit also encourages you to write concisely, a ski ll highly valued in business.

RESENTATION OF ASSIGNMENT (Refer the assignment marking Criteria)
You should include a title page that lists your nam e, Student ID and the unit number and title.
Number all pages sequentially.
Any published material you refer to should be prope rly referenced by including in text citations & citations at the end of your
assignment. (see Plagiarism notice overleaf)
Appendices may be used for supportive information, however, the key components of your response must b e included within
your answer and conform to the number of words spec ified in the question.
Assignment will be graded zero if it is not relevan t to the assignment questions.
Note: In case you have not submitted your assignmen t on due date, you will not be permitted to do the
exam on the schedule date.

PLAGIARISM
Plagiarism is a form of cheating, by representing someone else’s work as your own o r using someone
else’s work
(another student or author) without acknowledging it with a reference. This is a serious breach
of the Academic Regulations and will
be dealt with accordingly. Students found to have pla giarised can be
excluded from the
program.
Plagiarism occurs whenever you do any of the follow ing things without acknowledging the original source:
 copy information from any source (including the study guide, books, newspapers, the internet),
 use another person’s concepts or
ideas,
 summarise or paraphrase another person’s
work.
How do I avoid plagiarism?
To ensure you are not plagiarising, you must acknow ledge with a reference whenever you:
 use another person’s ideas, opinions or theory
 include any statistics, graphs or images that have been compiled or created by another person or
organisation
 paraphrase another’s written or spoken
word.
NOTE: Chifley Business School will be testing your submission with the plagiarism detection software,
Turnitin to
ensure academic integrity.
By understanding and using one of the referencing systems detailed in My Resource Centre on e-
Communities, you will
be able to avoid plagiarism.

What are the penalties?
The penalties for plagiarism are:

 Repeat the course
 Fees applicable
 Redoing the assignment and the Final exam.
Plagiarism is dealt with on a case-by-case basis an d the penalties will reflect the seriousness of the breach.
Please note: claiming that you were not aware of ne ed to reference is no excuse.

Select an organisation that you are familiar with—p
referably the one for which you
currently work. Select a challenge which has arisen which requires the organisation to
change its current way of operating or affects its competitive advantage. Examples may
include but not be limited to:
1. Competition from overseas or local enterpri ses
2. Merger with or acquisition of another organ isation
3. Economic recession and/or recovery
4. New government legislation
5. New technology which makes your own obsolet e
6. Development and introduction of innovative practices, processes or systems
7. Attraction and retention of staff (this wil l also require an understanding of Topic 10 –
Human Resource Management)
8. Corporate social responsibility
9. Ethical issues and compliance
10. Any other challenge which is feasible and cre dible (e.g. change of government, a
series of product failures or a major lawsuit).
This assignment is designed to give you the opportu nity to apply some of the issues raised
in Topics 1–5 of the Study Guide to your organisati on. If you are currently not
working,
you
can choose an organisation for which you have prev iously worked.
