NOTE: The Institution Based View is a part of Strategic Management
DIRECTIONS:
The case should be a foreign company entering the Chinese market and it MUST have something to do with the Chinese INSTITUTIONAL context. Thus, investigate X foreign firm’s China strategy from an institutional based view (IBV).
In relation to this, it is very important to meet ALL the following learning objectives:
1) Explain the institutional theory and the institution-based view
of strategy.
2) Analyze China’s institutional environment, in terms of the
regulatory, normative, and cultural/cognitive aspects of
institution.
3) Elaborate the different responses to such an institutional
environment of the businesses situated in China.
4) Apply the institutional theory and the institution-based view
of strategy to a specific Chinese business strategy-related
topic of the student’s own choice.
THE PAPER SHOULD INCLUDE (you may structure/phrase it as you find most suitable):
1) Introduction (describe case in question and make literature review with the Institutional-based view and the institutional setup in China – view PPTs attached); 2) Case analysis; 3) Discussion; 4) Conclusion; 5) and Reference list.
